Welcome to Divine Konversations

Updated: Aug 28, 2025

When we pressed record on this very first episode, my heart was pounding. Starting a podcast isn’t just about turning on the microphones - it’s about opening a door. And for us, this door is sacred. Divine Konversations was born out of a deep need in our community: a need for truth-telling, for resources, and for a safe space where the voices of BIPOC families could be lifted, honored, and heard.

As I sat with my daughter Tatianna and Tatiana Bergum, I thought about how far this journey has already taken us. I thought about my mother, who inspired me to dream of a house where young moms could find safety and belonging. I thought about my own story - becoming a mom at twelve years old, walking through foster care, abuse, homelessness, and addiction. And I thought about how, even through the hardest places, God made a way. That way became Divine Konnections, and today it’s growing into so much more than I ever imagined.

This podcast is an extension of that vision. It’s our way of saying: we’re here, and we’re not afraid to talk about what’s really happening. We’re going to talk about the heartbreak of families being separated. We’re going to talk about how Black and disabled mothers are disproportionately losing their children. We’re going to talk about housing, healing, mental health, education, and the systems that too often fail us. But we’re also going to talk about solutions - because information is power, and our families deserve to have it.

I was reminded during this first conversation of why representation matters so much. Duluth is predominantly white, and yet BIPOC families here are experiencing the highest levels of struggle when it comes to housing, child protection, and mental health. That isn’t by accident - it’s systemic. And it’s why spaces like Divine Konnections and now Divine Konversations exist: so our community can see itself, find resources, and know we’re not alone.

This first episode is just the beginning. You’ll hear from powerhouse women like Shaquana McEntyre, who worked inside the child protection system and now advocates fiercely for families. You’ll hear from Michaela Carol, who equips parents to advocate for their children with disabilities in schools. You’ll hear from educators like Jebeh Edmunds, from leaders like Kelis Houston, and from mothers who know the fight firsthand. Together, their voices create a chorus of truth, resilience, and hope.

For me, hosting this podcast is personal. It’s not just about information - it’s about healing. Healing the wounds I’ve carried. Healing the wounds our community still carries. And healing through the power of story, of conversation, of connection. These aren’t easy topics, but they are holy ones. And I believe that by speaking them out loud, change becomes possible.

So welcome, friend. Whether you’re a parent, a provider, or simply someone who cares about our community, you belong here. Pull up a chair, lean in, and let’s begin these Divine Konversations together.

This is more than a podcast. It’s a movement. And it starts here.

“They didn’t need saving—they needed support, resources, and a safe place to land.”
